A perfect place for morning walks and cycling are the greenbelts in Peccole Ranch just to the south of Charleston Boulevard Charleston is the street that divides the southwest part of the Las Vegas Valley from the northwest.

The Southwest area of Las Vegas, west of The Strip and south of Charleston Boulevard, is now growing rapidly.  It has, in fact, overtaken Henderson as the fastest growing area of the Las Vegas Valley with many new developments with both new and resale homes for sale.

Summerlin--with all its very special amenities--now extends into the Southwest.   The Ridges, an exclusive neighborhood in southern Summerlin, is to the west in the hills surrounding Red Rock Canyon and has new homes for sale.  Homes in The Willows and The Gardens Villages are only available by resale.

Luxury Homes in Las Vegas's Southwest

In the Southwest you will find  gated, luxury home neighborhoods such as Spanish Trail Country Club,  Queensridge, as well as the new Red Rock Country Club.  Peccole Ranch, The Lakes and other neighborhoods are nearby.  In these neighborhoods, homes are available by resale only.  Further south there is a huge growth in housing developments, including the very luxurious Southern Highlands with its award-winning golf course.

Near the Strip are beautiful established neighborhoods, many built in the 1960s, including Scotch 80s, Rancho Bel Air, and McNeill Estates. While the majority of homes in Las Vegas are pastel stucco with tile roofs, the homes in these neighborhoods are spacious '60s ranch style as well as some Tudor homes.

Southern Highlands

Southern Highlands, a very exclusive new country club community, has given it's name to an area of rapid development at the far southern end of the Las Vegas Valley.

Southwest Las Vegas between Charleston and Tropicana  has many large, new apartment complexes occupied by newcomers to the City as well as single family homes.  South of Russell Road, the area is zoned to allow owners to keep horses on their property, so the homes and lots are larger.

Rhodes Ranch

Yet another huge development in the southwest part of the Las Vegas Valley is Rhodes Ranch where there are both new homes and resale homes and condos available for sale.  At the heart of this community is a golf course.  It is a relatively flat course -- in contrast to the Eagles Nest and Revere courses which are steep and hilly.

BUSINESS AND SHOPPING: While casinos on The Strip are the primary business activity in the Southwest, all the main streets are lined with retail shops, stores, restaurants and neighborhood businesses.

Red_Rock_Casino_Las_Vegas.JPG (77507 bytes) The new Red Rock Casino on west Charleston is close to the shopping districts near Summerlin Centre and to the entrance to Red Rock Canyon.

There are two new huge shopping centers at the corner of Charleston and Rampart.  You'll find everything from delis to dancing shoes to drapes for your bedroom.

The Fashion Show mall on The Strip has many upscale stores, including Neiman Marcus and Saks. Several of the casinos, including Caesar's Palace, Desert Passage at the Aladdin, and The Venetian also have upscale shopping.
